About this campaign...

We are the Yonge and Gerrard Home Church associated with the Downtown Toronto site of The Meeting House. We are using this page to raise awareness of, and collect donations for, the Peacemakers campaign our church is running. You have likely reached this page because you know someone who is a part of our Home Church and we want to say thanks for considering helping us out!

The funds we raise will go to supporting persons affected by violence and conflict globally and here in Ontario. Each year we collect funds and items in order to put together Relief Kits and Peace Cards. Relief Kits are used to supplement relief work by providing people affected by crisis with essential items that meet their basic needs. This year the kits are going to Jordan to persons affected by the crisis in Syria. Peace Cards raise funds (in the form of $100 Peace Cards) that support peacebuilding work in 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa as well as peacebuilding work in Ontario in the areas of reconciliation with our indigenous neighbours, and restorative justice. For more detailed information about how cards are used, feel free to review FAQ 15 found here .

Our church, The Meeting House, has worked alongside the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) for many years on previous fundraisers such as AIDS CARE. We like working with the MCC because they develop partnerships and support already existing local organizations with shared values.

Our goal as a church for this year is to assemble 1000 kits (estimated to cost $65,000) and raise $260,000 for peace cards by March 4th. Our goals as a home church is to contribute $6,500 toward that goal. We will use this money to build 15 relief kits (costing approximately $750) with the rest of the money we raise going to the Peacemakers campaign in the form of $100 Peace Card donations. Please consider helping us work together as a group to reach our goal by donating here.

TAX RECEIPTS

The Meeting House will provide tax receipts for donations of $20 or more. If you want a receipt please select an amount from the reward list in order to provide your mailing address when submitting your donation.
