The mission of SilenceIsViolence is to work toward a safe and equitable New Orleans. We provide direct victim services, creative youth engagement, and public advocacy, working with clients and partners from every sector to achieve safe, just, and thriving communities.
We host the following programs:
The SIV Victim Allies Project
offers emotional, logistical, and material support to victims of violence and families of homicide victims.
SIV Community Engagement
mobilizes grassroots anti-violence through peace walks, candlelight vigils, youth outreach fairs, and victim memorials.
SIV Peace Clinics
are arts-based violence intervention workshops for students and youth in New Orleans. These workshops leverage the power of artistic expression to interrupt and challenge the cycles of violence in our community. In addition to positive, creative engagement for local youth, Peace Clinics are access points for more intensive post-trauma services for victim families.
Currently we are raising funds for Peace Clinics:
We need to raise $15,000 to reach 250 new students in 2019!
With your help, we hope to raise $5,000 in this first stage of fundraising.
Here are just some of the ways your support can help Peace Clinics meet our goals:
$10 - Brain-power snacks for one Peace Clinic workshop
$40 - Art supplies for one Peace Clinic workshop
$100 - Training and stipend for an artist-mentor
$200 - Therapeutic services for one victim family
$500 – One month of arts-based intervention programming for 20 students
Special thanks to the GPOA Foundation, Midway Pizza
, Second Line Brewing
, and the Palace Market
