MUCHA FUERZA - Relief Efforts

The biggest fear in donating is not knowing where your money is going. It’s frustrating to hear my friends, families and even strangers comment at dinner about how they would rather not donate at all then trust individuals on this very platform or charities. So I decided to find a way in which we can.
We all have a family member or friend that is either directly/indirectly impacted by Irma, Harvey or Maria. We cannot continue using this as an excuse to do nothing and instead need to think of ways we can help. #PraywithAction #RezarconAcción.
Think of it like this. Today I spent $6 on my latte but had I donated it, I could have bought 24 bottles of Nestle water. I have never done something like this (little nervous) but I do know that I cannot NOT help in some way. I encourage everyone to donate and in whatever capacity they can, whether it is through me or somewhere else.
How will this money get used? Since we don’t want this funneled thru a big charity and I want everyone to feel that they know where it’s going, I thought LOCAL would be best. Only the person next to you experiencing these events knows what is needed and how best to provide it. We want this to feed their neighbors, provide water for the elderly & cook a meal for rescue workers.
Contact in DR - Working wth my sister in DR to see what organisation or how we can buy supplies and send them to the affected areas like Samana and San Francisco de Macoris that suffered extreme flooring and loss.
Update: Locked in a donation from a company that will provide chlorine/cleaning products to affected areas.
Contact in Mexico - Laura Camacho. She will helping people in the city of Tlayacapan, the school of Liceo Franco Mexicano School and local families in need.
Update: We will also be sending money to Tehuitzingo. Government assistance is not reaching this area!
Contact with PR – I will be donating funds to Zuleika Acosta Owner of Saint Rose . They have contacts in PR that can disperse supplies/donations in a responsible way. They are currently working on organizing a drive (more details to follow)
I am currently working on finding reliable sources in other countries and will be updating this page daily. Also, as I get updated on how the money is used I will inform everyone.
