Raising Money for Yai by Clutch Bar Chicago

Donation protected
On behalf of Clutch Bar Chicago, we would like to personally thank everyone that called, texted, visited, and showed genuine care and support for us in the aftermath of the events that took place on Friday, September 17th. As many of you are aware, one of our own was injured during a drive-by shooting targeted at our front door staff. This was a reckless and cowardly act aimed at the people that oversee the safety of our customers, staff, and venue – for simply doing their job.

Yai has been a staple of the hospitality industry in downtown Chicago for the last 20 years. For those of you that have the pleasure of calling Yai a friend, co-worker, or associate, you understand the constant commitment, loyalty, and love he has for the people he works with. For those of you that have had the pleasure of being greeted by Yai at one of the venues he’s worked at over the last 20 years, you understand his kind heart, glaring smile, empathy for others, and unwavering desire for you to enjoy yourself.

At Clutch, we have had the pleasure of understanding Yai’s selfless demeanor and constant acts of kindness. This was most recently evident that weekend when Yai texted one of our co-workers who was outside with him during Friday’s events, asking if he was ok and doing well. Who on earth suffers a traumatic experience like this, laying in a hospital bed, and worries about anyone else other than himself? YAI DOES.

The hospitality industry in Chicago is a tight-knit group that cares, supports, and loves one another. We are fighting the same fight, together, day after day and night after night. Yai represents the best this industry has to offer and what we should all strive to be.

To show Yai the love he has shown this industry for so many years, we would like to do something special for Yai and his wife, Ayla. To assist their family, we are creating this in order to take off any financial burdens that they may have during this time while he is unable to work due to surgery and his recovery back home. No donation is too small, and we truly appreciate all of the love and support from our Hospitality Family here in Chicago.
