Brian Culpepper’s road to recovery

Most of you know that Tony and I own a transportation company. Yesterday our dispatcher, Adam, called us after several failed attempts to make contact with Brian, one of our drivers. Brian was headed to pick up a patient and never arrived. Tony immediately tried calling Brian, and was reluctant to hear his shaky voice on the other end Zof the phone. Brian said he had been in an accident and was headed to the hospital. He joked with Tony about having to miss clinical days for his EMT course he was currently taking through our company. Brian seemed to be in good spirits. He told Tony what hospital he was going to and the call ended. At that time we thought Brian was involved in a simple "fender bender." Soon we found out it was much, much worse. Shortly after the accident, 11 Alive released a news clip about police stopping suspicious suspect in a Jaguar. The suspect managed to get away and fled on foot. The officer exited his patrol car in an attempt to apprehend the suspect, but the suspect circled back around and took off in the officers patrol car. The suspect sped off, ultimately crashing into Brian, which caused Brian's vehicle to flip. Brian had to be extracted from the car and was taken to the hospital with CRITICAL injuries. Tony and Adam immediately went to the hospital and I got the phone call. What we do know is Brian has broken every rib in his body, he has a ruptured spleen, a broken neck, both lungs are collapsed, and he broke several bones in his back. The good news is he is alert, not paralyzed, and the usual Brian in good spirits. I am sure the severity of his injuries will entail numerous surgeries with extensive physical therapy. This is going to be a LONG road to recovery. Brian does not have health insurance, but luckily our workers comp insurance will pay for a portion of his medical costs. With that being said, he will be out of work for a while. I do not see a job as a driver in his near future. Brian was one week away from completing his EMT course. I don't like asking for help, but today, I am begging you for help. I know as a community we can come together to raise money to help pay for Brian's rent and other daily expenses while he is out of work. Tony, myself, and our entire staff has been blessed to have Brian as part of our team. He is a PHENOMENAL employee and loved by all. Recovery can be trying, but as a veteran, Brian is strong willed. We want to be of any assistance we can to get him back on his feet and well again. Thank you for any donation you feel necessary to contribute, but most of all, keep Brian in your prayers.
