Hello Friends!
It’s surreal that we are here again… this is John’s third and scariest cancer journey.
John’s first cancer diagnosis was advanced stage kidney cancer back in 2012. The mass was found during a scan for appendicitis. Within one month he had an appendectomy and a nephrectomy followed by chemo … he was essentially declared cancer free.
In 2022, John was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He underwent radical surgeries with follow up tests and appointments every three months. It was the result of a follow up that they discovered the prostate cancer revealed itself to have spread.
Exactly two years later … here we are. Given John’s type of cancer, the velocity of growth … all the data … this is the scariest. His oncology team wants to vigorously attack the cancer hoping to treat to cure instead of treat to maintain. It will be six months before we know if it is successful.
Already, the medical bills are adding up. A few of you have asked us to open a GoFundMe … reluctantly we have. We’re not very good at accepting help but with humble and grateful hearts we’re learning to embrace your offer of love and support. We cannot thank you enough.
We would be remiss if we did not give God His due praise! He allowed each cancer season to be discovered ‘in time’. He continues to make Himself known through relationships and strength. We are grateful for another opportunity to see Him and His mighty hand move mountains.
Thank you from the bottom of our weary but encouraged hearts.
John and Bethani
