Round Lake Community Center Project

Donation protected
In 2013, the Round Lake School closed and the building was facing demolition.  My brother and I purchased the property with dreams of re-purposing the building by turning it into a community center.  Forming a non-profit corporation, The Greater Round Lake Community Association, we began working toward that goal.  The former school building currently houses an awesome Fitness Center including a beautiful gymnasium, a free Community Library, a Community Event Center, a smaller Community Room, a Lifelong Learning Center, and a Kidz Korner, to serve the community and surrounding rural area.  It also houses a Round Lake History Center, three historical classrooms, and a memorabilia room containing school trophies, yearbooks, uniforms, pictures, and other items of historical interest to the school.
In our re-purposing of rooms and investigating how and where to save money in operating costs, we discovered there is absolutely NO insulation above the second-story of the original building.  Local volunteers who work with energy companies recommended that 12" of cellulose insulation be placed in this area, drastically cutting energy costs for heating in the winter.  Installation of the insulation would be done by all volunteers.
Round Lake is a small town of approx. 400 citizens and the Community Center is central life-line for the community and surrounding rural area.  Making the Community Center more self-sustaining would be of benefit to all the citizens in the local area.  Donations would be made directly to the:  Round Lake Community Center, 445 Harrison St., Round Lake, MN  56167
