PD Fund 2020 Campaign for Affected Families

I personally know people who have lost their jobs because of the coronavirus (including former students). Millions of college students were just abruptly told to move out of their dorms and "go home" (even if they don't have a home, or a safe one, to return to). 1.4 million students and teachers in NYC alone may soon see the doors to their schools close, and for many of them, the doorway to food, medical services, and much more along with it.
If you, like me, are fortunate enough to have a secure job and healthcare during this crisis, perhaps you are looking to give to others who aren't so lucky. 100% of every donation will go straight to individuals and families in need, to help them cover rent payments while they are unemployed, to help them pay for prescription drugs while hospitals are overrun, and to help them feed their families when their company doesn't process payroll on time or at all.
Genise and I (the founders of the PD Fund) will match EVERY dollar donated up to $5,000, meaning we could easily surpass $10,000 for folks in need. You can also donate directly at https://www.paypal.me/PDfund to avoid the 2% processing fee if you have a Paypal cash balance. All donations will be tracked on our website for transparency and we will work with community-based organizations and other stakeholders to find the people who could most use our help to give cash donations to in the form of rapid mini grants. Because this is all intended to cut down on lengthy paperwork for recipients and give them direct cash transfers, we cannot claim 501(c)3 status for this campaign, so check our website (PDfund.org ) for a list of all donations and recipients.
