As many of you know, Katie Simpson, was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma in 2011 which ended up with the removal of her right eye. Losing her eye was difficult, but we felt that the ends justified the means to put this thing behind us. Earlier this year our world was shattered again only to learn that she had been diagnosed with metastatic liver cancer. We always knew this was a possibility due to her eye diagnoses many years earlier.
Katie and her husband, Matt, have been married for almost 6 years and share a beautiful daughter, Emmy, who is just 2 years old.
Katie has been undergoing experimental treatments under the care of the wonderful doctors and nurses at James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville. We remain hopeful that she will beat this, but we also understand the seriousness of the situation.
