R and M Cycling team from Tampa, Florida will be bringing a composite team of 5 junior women riders and 1 master’s rider to the TOUR of AMERICA'S DAIRYLAND. The girls have worked very hard to train and prepare for this series and will proceed to JUNIOR NATIONALS the following week. As a Masters rider, Coach Sharon will share her race experience to guide the girls to work hard, gain strength, prepare for the races, and learn how to work as a team, teach life lessons, set an example for the girls, share the joy of winning and help overcome disappointments.
The girls are very excited to come race in Wisconsin and for each one of them cycling has influenced them in the following way.
Ava (age 14): Cycling has impacted my life so much. It has taught me many aspects in life that are hard to teach and learn. The sport of cycling has taught me responsibility, discipline and how to work to achieve a goal. It also has led me to places I never thought in a million years I would go. Cycling has allowed for me to meet people from all around the world that have the same passion as I do. Cycling has led me to positively affect others every day. It has helped me to teach other young riders skills and speed so they can race too. It has also let me to encourage others to stay healthy and to ride their bikes.
Melody (age 13): Cycling has changed my life in so many ways! It has showed me that anything is possible when you put your mind to it I have been able to meet new friends, and travel to different places as well as set a positive example for other younger riders. I have learned to manage training time on and off the bike with schoolwork
Mallory (age 12): The impact cycling has had on my life is incredible. I have been very fortunate to travel to different parts of the country to see new things and meet new friends. Cycling has helped me become more fit, focused and realize that a healthy lifestyle is very important to long-term success in life and on the bike. Cycling has taught me discipline in my schoolwork and that when things get tough, to keep going and have a “you can do it” attitude. I approach each life challenge with “never give up.” I’m still young but I think I have impacted even younger girls that come and watch races. I encourage them to get on the bike, have fun and give racing a try. I want to be a positive role model to the younger girls to get on a bike and have a healthy lifestyle.
Lilly (age 11): Cycling has changed my life by helping me to be more focused and disciplined in everything that I do. Cycling has given me an outlet to use my competitive nature in a positive way. I love to ride my bike and love to race. I get to be with other girls my age and feel proud of myself and know that I have tried my hardest to win. I have been able to help teach and show the youngest girl on the team not be afraid and how to ride on the track.
Sophia (age 9): I just started cycling and I have learned that I can meet new friends. I have learned the joy and love of the bicycle and I also learned that you could be competitive with other girls and still be their friend and whether you win or lose you can be happy for one another.
We hope you consider a helping defer the costs of the travel for the R and M Composite cycling team, as we travel north to prepare for our big races. We look forward gaining valuable racing experience and success in our racing.
