PB SOC is a volunteer group at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento. We work mostly with the pit bull type dogs at the shelter, as well as other large breeds when we are able to.
Our volunteers run play groups, walk dogs, do obedience training, provide adoption counseling, and give lots of love. Our efforts are geared toward keeping dogs happy and healthy while at the shelter, and helping them find well-matched forever families.
When the shelter is at or beyond capacity, as is often the case, we don't have the ability to help dogs beyond the the bully breeds, and are stretched thin even helping the pit bull type dogs. Fortunately, we have partnered with an amazing rescue in Canada, Prairie Pit Bull Rescue, that regularly pulls dogs from our shelter and is able to place them with wonderful families.
This partnership has allowed PB SOC to broaden our support for more dogs at the shelter, well beyond pit bulls, and our volunteers are able to give significant support to all the dogs in our program.
The funds for transporting the dogs to Canada is paid for by PB SOC and our supporters.
We have created this account to raise funds for continued trips. Depending on the number of dogs pulled, the cost per trip range from $500 to $2,000.
We have two groups of dogs heading North in February, 2017. 7 dogs leave on the 6th, and 6 will leave on the 20th. We've already funded the first transport, but need another $500 more for the second trip.
Of course, there will be countless volunteer hours from PB SOC and Prairie Pit Bull Rescue, too. With YOUR HELP, this partnership will continue for years to come!
