Franklin "Buddy" Batson is a loving father, husband, son, and coach. He is a hard worker and does everything he can for his family and friends. He has coached wrestling for 20 years and does it to give back to the sport that he loves and has helped shape him into the man he is today.
In October of 2016 he went to the doctor for what was thought to be a lipoma (a fatty tumor) and was told it was nothing and it was scheduled to be removed. On the day of his surgery in December of 2016 the surgeon ordered an MRI and the results were worrisome. They referred him to a soft tissue specialist at Duke University Hospital. Soon after they started running tests, Buddy was diagnosed with a sarcoma (a rare soft tissue cancer). This news was completely unexpected and has been a hardship on our family.
Buddy will be recieving 5 weeks of radiation at Duke University Hospital starting January 17, 2017 and ending February 20, 2017. He will then be having surgery to finally have the tumor removed.
Although our family has health insurance, it does not pay for everything and we will have many unexpected expenses to pay out of pocket.
We know that Buddy has what it takes to "take down" cancer and will win his match.
