Paying Tribute to Steve ‘Smiley' Woods
Donation protected
My dad‘s name is Steve, but you may know him as smiley. My dad earned his nickname Smiley by his iconic smile and willingness to help others, whether they were his best friend or a perfect stranger.
On Thursday, 8/18, that iconic smile faded. My dad suffered a severe stroke and was rushed to Holy Cross medical center, where they operated for three hours in an attempt to save his life. Although he survived the surgery, an MRI revealed that my dad suffered a catastrophic stroke in his brain stem and cerebellum. We were told, “he has no chance of any meaningful neurological recovery.”
It was my dad’s wish to be an organ donor, which, if you knew him, is no surprise, and we are currently in the beginning stages of that process.
Many people have reached out to ask how they can help, and this is the best way to help us take care of funeral services and other unexpected expenses. My dad is irreplaceable, but any help you can offer is deeply and humbly appreciated, even if it means sharing this link. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to offer comfort, condolences and favorite memories; it is appreciated more than you know.
