PAWS Vulnerable Pets Relief

Donation protected
The Problem

Even on a good day, covering veterinary expenses to ensure the health and wellbeing of pets is a stretch for many Canadians - but this past year has been unprecedented. Soaring unemployment, increases in domestic violence and long term financial insecurity has made it tougher than ever for struggling families to protect their furry loved ones.

The Result?

More cases of preventable animal disease and death, more animals surrendered to shelters, and more pet-specific violence. Support services across Ontario are overwhelmed; veterinary clinics have been flooded with requests for subsidized services, animal shelters are at capacity, and women are delaying seeking shelter from violence because of a lack of options for their companion animals.

The Solution

All of this suffering - human and animal - is preventable. Progressive Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) collaborates with local crisis centres and veterinary clinics offering essential services and emergency care for companion animals in the care of low-income or in-crisis guardians. This financial support enables families to remain healthy, safe and together over the long term. Our goal is to create a better quality of life for companion animals and those who love them, and you can help!

What Can You Do?

PAWS is seeking donations to enable us to continue our vital work supporting pets and their owners - who are more in need of relief now than ever before. We are an entirely volunteer-run organization based in SW Ontario, and 100% of donations received will go to ensuring companion animals get the medical care and support they need. And we need your help - only together can we protect the most vulnerable in our community.

Even a little can go a long way! For example:

- Just $10 pays for a month of parasite protection against fleas, ticks, worms and more, significantly improving an animal's quality of life and protecting its owners from possible infection.
- $15 pays for a rabies vaccine, not only medically recommended for all animals, but a prerequisite for an animal entering foster care or shelter with their owner.
- $25 pays for a urinalysis to detect an infection and prescribe the right medication. Without the test, meds can’t be issued, and complications can become life-threatening.
- $50 will pay for emergency intervention if a dog ingests something poisonous or dangerous.
