Paws on the South Harpeth
is a reinvention of an annual
event held for the past seven years at South Harpeth Organic Farm in Franklin, TN. This year, the beneficiaries are the "underdogs". A small group of hard working animal rescue groups from Tennessee to Michigan. These organizations donate their time, their own money, and operate on limited resources dedicated to saving dogs, cats, horses, and wild critters. Often, limited resources are pooled to snatch an animal from death. This year, the beneficiaries are Critter Cavalry, Hickman County Humane
, Keely's Friends Dog Rescue
, Lifehouse Animal Refuge and Rehabilitation, Paws Up Outreach
, Paws in Peril
, R.A.R.E. Rural Animal Rescue Effort
, River Edge Horse Farm Rescue
, T.C.B. Kennels and Walden's Puddle
. All organizations are 501(c3). Donated food and supplies will be provided to the hard core non-501(c3) individuals who are out there countless hours feeding, watering, and medicating neglected animals-every single day, all year long, often on their own dime.
In prior years, there was corporate sponsorship of this event. This first year will be more challenging. I believe, together, our community can generate a solid base to attract corporate support in the future, as we demonstrate that our actions speak volumes.
We are on our own financially, but not in spirit. Hundreds of people have enjoyed a day on the river over the past seven years, and we invite you to return on October 7, 2017. Paws on the South Harpeth
features great music, hay rides, food, vendors, exhibitors, kayaking, and of course rescues, horses, and adoptable pets. It is both a kid friendly and animal friendly event. A ten dollar contribution gets you into the event in advance. Tax deductible contributions can be sent directly to Keely's Friends Dog Rescue
. Please be sure to note Paws on the South Harpeth.
Please support me, David J. Marks, in this effort There are not enough homes for all of them. Let's move them from cage to couch.
