Our dear friend Paula is getting ready to undergo surgery to replace her pancreas and kidney. She needs replacement of these two vital organs, because she has Type 1.5 Diabetes and went without proper healthcare for many years.
Due to the nature of organ transplants she will have little or no notice when the surgery will take place. She is a mother and wife. Her daughter and husband will need support and financial assistance during her long recovery. They will also need help with expenses related to the transplant directly and indirectly that may not be covered by insurance. This alone should account for $11,000-$12,000 in expenses not covered by insurance.
Additionally, they will need funds to help the family with basic expenses since Paula will be unable to work while she recovers and Steve will be unable to work for two months after the surgery assisting her with her recovery.
Paula has given her life to the service of others through her many education related jobs. She has dedicated herself to educating learners of all ages about the environment and how vital it is to protect and cherish the natural world in all it's wonder.
