Hello,
As many of you might already know, my Aunt Paula was a 4th grade classroom teacher for the Paramus Public Schools at Stony Lane School from 1994-2003. Her motto to her students was to always PERSEVERE!
She then furthered her education and and became a School Psychologist and worked for the Ridgefield Park Public Schools from 2003-2016 and left because of her disability.
She was diagnosed 12 years ago with Sarcoidosis. She was in remission for approximately 10 years. When it became active again it came back with a vengeance. Her body started to weaken and her immune system became more challenged. Many more health issues started to affect her. She became allergic to her environment and almost all foods. She then was diagnosed with severe asthma. Her respiratory system grew weaker. Because of these combined ailments, her health has gotten worse. She has been diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension, Advanced Sarcoidosis, Heart Failure and Kidney Dysfunction. Her muscles have become atrophied so getting around is difficult for her. She has a wheel chair and is on oxygen 24 hours a day. Soon she will be meeting with another team of Doctors at Temple University Hospital to discuss the course of her treatment. At this time they have stated she will need lung transplants. Hopefully if they can stabilize her heart with medication, they will not have to do a heart transplant. But that is all based on how her heart responds to the medication. A double lung transplant alone is $1,000,000.00+. She is in need of a portable oxygen machine with a battery life of 5 hours minimum and can also be charged in the car when she is going back and forth to hospitals. This Tuesday, October 10th, she will head to Temple University Hospital in Philly for her evaluation.
