Paul G. Britt - Hereditary Cancer

Paul Britt has always been a productive self employed person who has supported his community. Serving on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together and working with Kingdom Builders, coordinating and funding rehabilitation projects. Serving those less fortunate in making necessary home repairs to keep them , safe in their homes. He physically worked on many of these projects donating his time, money and talent. Paul and his wife Cathy also wrote grants for funding these projects.
Paul & Cathy have helped so many people throughout their lives, and my hope is that they get the help they need so badly.
Unfortunately, my brother in law Paul was diagnosed with Invasive Differential Keratinizing Squamous Cell Carcinoma Stage 2A. A rare genetic cancer that took his mother and grandmother early in life. The mass in the lower left lobe of his lung was attached to and compressing the left main pulmonary artery. He had a Thoracotomy with left lower lobe lobectomy. Simply put, his back was opened up, his ribs sawed in half and the lower lobe of the lung was removed with a reconstruction of the bronchus.
We are very thankful Paul was diagnosed and treated before this cancer took his life. He has survived the cancer and is left with a 49% chance of recurrence within 3 to 5 years. Paul has been out of work for the past 5 months and will not be able to work in any capacity for more than a year. He will never be cancer free and will have enormous medical expenses for a very long time. Medical out of pocket expenses, lost wages and travel and lodging for hospital stays have been overwhelming. Paul and Cathy have exhausted their savings and are trying to survive with Cathy as the sole provider. Another devastating blow to them, Cathy had an emergency heart catherization and a stent put in her heart during this past week.
We are asking for any help to keep this disease from ruining the rest of their lives. They are facing the possibility of losing everything they have worked hard for. No family can ever be prepared for the enormous financial burden associated with cancer and the serious toll it takes on the lives of it's victim and families.
