Paty's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Paty is a long-time Connecticut resident, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is a fearless activist and leader in the migrant justice movement in the state of Connecticut. She has worked tirelessly to support our community, including dozens of families facing deportation, legislative campaigns, coordination events, and more. Many of us know Paty to be hardworking, kind, and humble. She has given so much of herself to support others, despite the struggles that she and her family face on a daily basis.

Now, she needs our help.

Paty had been struggling with abdominal pain for many months. She did not go to the doctor because she is undocumented, does not have health insurance, and was unsure how she would be able to pay any medical bills. With the encouragement and support of many people that love and care about her, Paty finally went to the doctor in the beginning of September. After conducting various tests, the doctor delivered the news that she had cancer in one of her kidneys in addition to a large stone in her gallbladder. The doctor told Paty she needed emergency surgery to remove both the cancer and her gallbladder--but that without insurance they would not be able to provide the care she needs. Paty has been mobilizing to obtain financial assistance that will cover some of the treatment she needs, but she will need to pay for a lot of medical bills out of pocket—including the anesthesia and radiology.

Paty does not have the financial means to pay for complicated surgeries and treatment on her own, and she really needs our help.

She has been struggling through pain and the road to recovery will be a long one. Paty is strong and is surrounded by many people that love her, but she will not be able to work while she is recovering from the surgery and she still does not know what other treatment she will need to receive. Paty wants to fight, but without the financial means she cannot even receive the life-saving surgery she needs.

We are estimating that in medical bills alone, she will need at least $12,000. In addition to her medical bills, she will need follow up care once she is able to go home. We are setting this fund to help her and her family with her medical costs.

Please help if you can. No amount is too little.
