Patti's Wilson-Harris cancer cost

Donation protected
Patti's cancer journey started in March 2004. She had a partial mastectomy with central nodes removed and 8 weeks of radiation. Shortly after she tested positive as a carrier of the BRCA2 cancer gene.

After her surgery she went on a clinical trial for 5.5 years. She was informed that there could be numerous side effects to her joints and could have further side effects in the future years. Unfortunately, she had several treatments and surgeries to her wrist, shoulder and had an Inter-Stem attached to her bladder and also a knee replacement. She later developed osteoporosis of the spine. She eventually was approved for disability benefits in 2008 and took early retirement.

In October 2016, she had a small lesion on the breast and was diagnosed with Angiosarcoma of the breast in the blood vessels. Due to the fact that only 200 people had this rare aggressive disease in the country, her family helped her to seek out a World Renowned Hospital and Doctor. She has been under the care of Dr. Vinod Ravi and his staff at M.D.A. in Houston, Texas since last year. She went through 24 chemotherapy treatments.

In March of 2017 she was informed by Dr. Ravi that she had a 7% survival rate and that the cancer was multiple and aggressive and that they could not perform surgery. However, after receiving her chemo her cancer shrunk enough to do the surgery. The Plastic Surgeon said that she may not have enough skin and tissue left so she should prepare herself to have multiple graphs to cover her chest. The good news was that they saw many dead cancer cells and removed only 1.5cm with margins. In August she was told that there was no evidence of the disease.

After her visit to Houston on November 19, 2017, she was informed the cancer has returned. Her husband passed away with cancer in August 2017 and she only has her social security income to pay her bills and no money for living expenses. She had just taken a part-time job but now has had to quit that.

She desperately needs to be a part of Dr. Ravi's study, which last for 3 months. She needs financial assistance for travel, lodging, food and her normal living expenses.

This is an urgent situation and needed now.
