Please help Patti.

Patricia, better known as "Patti," has lived in Lynbrook, Long Island her entire life.

Now  age 61,  Patti is living in the same house that she grew up in and lived with her mom, dad and siblings as a child, since birth.

From the age of 12, Patti has suffered with severe scoliosis.  After surgery at age 14, Patti remained in the hospital for one month.  After being  discharged in a full body cast, she was required to remain in  bed for  the next 10 months.

Although challenged, Patti completed her education and received a college degree.  As years went on, it was clear that her ability to function in the workforce was declining as her physical condition was deteriorating.

At age 40, Patti underwent a complete spinal reconstruction.  What was supposed to have been six days in the hospital ended up being four months due to many life threatening complications.

Patti remained home for one year in bed with her back open, draining an infection that was treated daily by visiting nurses.  After a year, Patti went back into the hospital for a follow up surgery to close up her back.  Patti was then put into a walking cast and gradually re-entered the workforce.

After maintaining stability for a few years, at age 50 Patti's ability to walk was becoming increasingly difficult.  Patti began using a quad-cane and a walker to navigate around her home.  Progressive degenerative nerve damage limited her ability to ambulate without a walker or wheelchair. She is now completely unable to stand on her own.  A diagnosis of arachnoiditis currently further complicates an already debilitating condition.

Unable to work since the age of 50, along with the passing  of her parents in 1983 and 2010, has left her alone to maintain her home.

Patti has no family support and although she has successfully paid all bills, she was not able to pay her property taxes for the past five years. Foreclosure is now imminent and time is running out! She has depleted all of her savings and financial resources due to  medical expenses.

With little comfort in her life due to chronic physical pain and challenges, the only comfort she does have, is in her home.

Patti is a compassionate and charitable woman, who stops at nothing in her power to help someone in need.  Regardless of her pain and suffering, Patti always has a smile and grateful for any gesture of kindness extended to her.

As blessed friends of this beautiful woman, we ask you to please consider helping Patti pay off current liens holding her home in foreclosure.  It amounts to $40,000.  Unpaid back taxes above this amount are still held by the county and stand good chance of being significantly reduced.  If the seemingly monumental task can be accomplished, Patti will only have two and a half remaining years of an exorbitant tax burden for which her town does not extend disability exemption.  If we can make this happen, we, her friends will be certain taxes are paid and current until age 65, when Patti will have the ability to pay the reduced tax for seniors.

Thank you for your time, consideration, support, and charitable heart!  Thank you for your consideration to help Patti remain in her home.
