Patrick Doyle’s Diabetic Service Dog

Donation protected
Hello friends,

I am usually not the type of person to create a Go Fund Me page for my family. I have raised money through Go Fund Me for many other families and causes. This time I am hoping you can help my son, Patrick Doyle, get a Diabetic Service Dog. Here is his story.

Patrick was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes when he was 13. He was a very healthy kid but had many changes to his body around 12. The doctors told us that he was going through puberty, many growth spurts, and was a very active swimmer. As a mother, I knew that something was wrong. Eventually, they diagnosed him with diabetes. We knew he had to work hard to get his blood sugar under control. It was complicated because he was on a USA swim team and was actively swimming 6 days a week, sometimes multiple times a day. He took charge and got his blood sugar at safe levels even with all of his swimming and activities. He won many titles in his high school years actively training and committing to the sport he loves. He lived his entire life in Methuen, MA until we recently moved to Amherst, NH.

Fast forward 5 years and now he swims for Keene State College in Keene, NH. He has done a good job keeping his blood sugar under control, but with the intense practice both in and out of the pool, he does get lows that are hard to keep in check. He is strong and healthy because he has worked so hard to take care of himself. However, with the lows and intense practices, we feel that a Diabetic Service Dog will help him. Not to mention the companionship, love, and assistance he would get with a Service Dog by his side.

I am a single mother of 4 kids in college – Patrick is my youngest. I work hard to provide for my family, but the cost of the Diabetic Service Dog goes outside of our budget. We found a great organization that trains service dogs, but it will cost a significant amount of money to get this to happen.

I hope you can help us raise the money to get this wonderful companion who will help Patrick stay healthy, day and night, while he is in college, during his swim training, and beyond. If you cannot, we would appreciate you sharing our story with others who may be able to donate to our fund. We will create a Facebook page to share Patrick’s story with everyone, so you know your money is going to Patrick’s Diabetic Service Dog which will help him stay healthy and strong.

Thank you,
Pattie Cullum
