Patrick Woodie Johnson Recovery Fund

Patrick (Woodie) was enjoying a perfect Florida day at Jonathan Dickinson State Park on Sunday January 4th, doing his favorite activity - riding the bike trails. Beside being exhilarating, cycling is an excellent activity for managing balance with his Parkinson's disease. He rides hard and fast but knows the trails well. He went over a jump in the terrain that he usually manages without a problem but not on that day. When he landed the jump, he was thrown from his bike and crashed hard onto the ground. Two men riding behind him called the park rangers and 911. His crash resulted in a collapsed lung, broken collar bone and 9 broken ribs plus massive bruising and swelling.
Although he was released after 3 days in the hospital, he has a long and painful road to recovery. He had just been called back to work with Center Lift but was unable to accept the work as he can barely move and needs assistance with daily functions. He has 2 teenage sons for whom he shares parenting responsibilities. Funds will be used to meet ongoing medical and living expenses until he can resume work.
