Patrick Lamb Liver Transplant

My name is Shannon and I am the sister of Patrick Lamb, or as I call him Packy. On May 5, 2016, Packy was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. After arriving at the hospital, he was placed in ICU with severe dehydration, extremely low blood pressure, kidney and liver failure. After his release from the hospital, he was continuously monitored by the doctors for returning function to his kidneys and liver. His kidney function eventually returned to normal, however, his liver did not improve but continued to get worse. After trying multiple medications and lots of bloodwork, on November 23, 2016 the doctor informed him that he would need a total liver transplant. He is essentially dangling by a thread to total liver failure.

At age 49, Packy has been referred to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA for the transplant. The doctors have indicated that the transplant will most likely be expedited as he will not live a year without it. This is heartbreaking news for his family and especially heartbreaking for his wife and soulmate, Teresa.

While Teresa is an investigator with the local sheriff’s department, they have health insurance, but there are numerous other expenses that must be considered. Out-of-pocket expenses for hospitals and physician services, medication expenses after the transplant (very expensive anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life), travel from Augusta to Atlanta, and housing cost (a minimum of 1 month) since the hospital is in the Atlanta area.
