Dear Friends & Family,
We are reaching out on behalf of Patrick and his best friend, Miles.
Recently, Miles was diagnosed with a rare form of Lymphoma in his chest and stomach. Miles doesn’t appear to be in any pain at this time; however, the specialist informed Pat that if no immediate action is taken he would lose Miles in a matter of weeks when the cancer spreads throughout his body. Patrick was encouraged to begin chemotherapy and steroid shots to prevent the cancer from spreading, in hopes that Miles could live another six months or more without feeling negative effects from treatment.
Because you know Patrick so well, you know he jumped at the chance to have more quality time with his best friend. Fortunately, Miles has begun treatment and is responding positively - he’s a trooper! Unfortunately, Miles’s comfort has come with quite a cost and our set goal is only a fraction of what is needed. Weekly treatment and steroid shots, in addition to sedation for the next six months, has left Patrick with a price tag he is trying to wrap his head around.
As his closest friends and family members, you know Patricks’ true character- he is never one to reach out for help. As his immediate family members, we have decided to reach out to those of you who know Pat and Miles best- we feel you understand the level of friendship they have developed over the last nine years and have witnessed their unbreakable bond. If you are able to donate any amount to the “Patrick & Miles Fund,” it would mean more than we can put into words.
It’s important for you to know that Patrick is not aware of our outreach. We are asking you to PLEASE keep our efforts in helping to support Mile’s treatment confidential at this time. Rather, we simply ask you to help us give Patrick the only things he needs right now: hope, time and a little help.
In life, all good things must come to an end. We know money is tight for everyone and we understand that Miles is a dog; however, Miles means the world to Patrick and has played an instrumental role in the lives of each of our family members, especially Gracie and Keaton. If we can buy Pat just a little more time with his companion, that is all that we are asking for. When the day comes and Patrick must say goodbye to Miles, in his heart he will know that he has done all that is possible to give Miles the quality of life he deserves- Miles is such a good boy and we love him dearly.
