Patricia's Rare Jaw Degeneration Surgery

Donation protected
I have watched my sweet friend struggle to smile through pain while striving to always be happy and positive even though she's hurting. Most of us know how even a little tooth pain can make it hard to think about anything else and her condition really is so much more painful. Please donate even $5 if you can afford to. They are literally doing anything and everything they can to afford this needed surgery. Please share with your friends and family and encourage them to do the same. Thank you to all of my amazing friends and family!!!

We needed to seek a surgeon who would take on Patricia's complex case and offer a cure instead of constantly having her jaw relapse after her previous surgeries which did not solve the root cause for her degeneration of the jaw joints. She has already had 2 major jaw surgeries and it's very difficult for any surgeon to do it the first time, much less dig through bone to remove old hardware and try to undo what the previous surgeon did a 3rd time. The jaw is the most complex joint and the surgeon has to operate through very sensitive facial nerves, very easily done wrong in patients that use other surgeons and are left with lasting pain, paralysis, and dysfunction for life.
This surgery will reduce 90% of her pain and debilitating symptoms, prevent any future relapses as she has constantly had to deal with. She needs a Bilateral Total Joint Replacement along with a re do of her old surgeries. This is a huge 12-hour surgery, but we are hopeful she will regain her life back. Her current surgeon is very highly specialized to do exactly what she needs but is a non-network Dr who charges us in advance. We tried seeking all Dr's in the state and there were not any in-network who do this, much less any that offer total joint replacements and who were confident to take on her case.

Although we have tried saving up for it, our income is tight, needing to dip into savings every month for food and bills and we are now left with negative in the account even having used some loans to help. Our loan payments to begin paying back this bill begins this week as well.

My wife and I have 3 young children and I have always tried to keep a 2nd job on the side when bills such as our current one arise as well as my job in the Air Force. This year after my wife had our 3rd child, her body dramatically worsened in pain even though she has been in pain and dealt with many symptoms since she was a child. Her injuries throughout her body worsened to 18/18 areas of her body in severe, unable to move around, type of pain. She was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos, which explains why her jaw joint issue began Fibromyalgia, many spine diagnoses, joint injuries all over which she is being seen for as well as some debilitating symptoms which leave her unable to care for our children without my help.

She has always been active but since she worsened this year, she has been unable to even go on a walk. She underwent multiple surgeries as a teen in joints and arthroscopies of the TMJ, many MRI's for her random passing out and headaches but Drs never knew what to make of it but we think the jaw issue has a lot to do with it. In 2013 had her first jaw surgery lasting 9 hours, but her jaw did not hold due to nonstop resorption of the joint and had a re do in 2017. Once again, she relapsed with severe, agonizing pain beginning each relapse with now being her worse pain she has ever been in since her jaw joints are all gone.

We don’t realize how involved our jaw joints are, but she feels it when she even smiles for seconds at a time, laughs, speaks, chews, even walking and sitting due to holding her head up causes her immense pain. She has lost 20 lbs in just a few months and know waiting for this surgery is not an option.

We are so glad to have found the underlying cause which is her faulty degenerating of the joints and have faith this will be the end of her major issue and pain that radiates in her neck, facial crushing bone pains, migraines, and more. It could also be why her rest of the body seems to be failing and causing her many issues.
