Patricia Ruth Akins, beloved mother, sister, and friend passed Thursday afternoon on March 1, 2018.
She was born on January 14th, 1960 and lived in Las Vegas before moving to Lake Stevens, Washington. She had many challenges in her life but was a strong, determined, loving mother of two boys, Shawn and Tyler. She raised both boys for 22 years on her own without any child support. The three of them just barely scraped by with assistance from the state after Patricia started having medical problems in 2010.
Patricia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a very rare blood cancer, on February 3, 2018. She went through chemo therapy, which unfortunately did not aid in the treatment. She started developing infections internally starting with her blood, then her stomach, kidneys, then lungs. She was put on life support while being treated with medications and her body just couldn't handle it anymore.
Unfortunately, Shawn and Tyler do not have much financial assistance and family to help pay and make the funeral arrangements. It’s hard enough to lose their mother at their age, but to have to make funeral arrangements and deal with the financial burden is unimaginable. This fund is going to help pay funeral costs and other financial challenges Shawn and Tyler may still face with the passing of their mother.
