Many of you have asked about our engineer Pat recently. You may know or not know that our talented and very loved Pat O'Donnell had recently had surgery for Testicular cancer back in November. His prognosis was good, but most recently they have found he is not out of the woods yet, and he is now in the middle of a grueling number of treatments hopefully to be finished by the end of March.
You will see him here for some shows when he is up for it but he will miss a lot of work. We will make sure he continues to have income here at SMAC whether he is here or not, but he is missing a lot of other income that he depends on away from SMAC. And he did get insurance, but of course he is still responsible for some of his now enormous medical expenses.
Many of you have asked how you can help...back in November we set up a "go fund me" for him to help with medical bills. , and although he hates to need the help, it gave him some welcome relief.
Soooooo...many of our customers, and his friends, musicians, and SMAC family, have asked how they can help with this next round of challenges for Pat, his wife Chrissy, and kids Jonah and Anya. The burden of worrying about a life threatening disease is bad enough..worrying about paying your bills while you do it, is even worse.
So here is the place for those of you who have expressed the desire to help:

And yes, he is all kinds of embarrassed about getting help..but that's what's what families are for :>)
Help Our Dear Friend Pat O'Donnell With His Medical Expenses
You know how they say it takes a village to raise a child? Well, we think of the Stone Mountain Arts Center as kind of a baby that is growing and being nurtured all the time. The village that helps in that process is our
amazing staff. We hear it all the time.."we have the best staff in the world" They are our family.
So, when one of our family hits hard times, we all feel it and want to help. Our talented and loved engineer Pat O'Donnell has recently had surgery for Testicular cancer. His prognosis is good...they took a large mass and have found no others. He will have some preventative treatments ahead after his blood is checked in a few weeks. Fingers crossed he will be in the clear.
It was very unexpected and like many of us he was uninsured. He is already over the 20K mark in medical expenses and although hopes to get insurance for his future treatement, he and his family were not prepared for this scary event in his young life.
Soooooo...many of his friends and musicans
have asked how they can help....well, helping him chip away at his medical bills is a start. His wife Chrissy, and kids Jonah and Anya are happy to know Pat will be okay and so are we. The burden of worrying about a life
threatening disease is bad enough...worrying about paying for it is even worse.
