Pave A New Path for Kenyan Youth

Kenya has an enormous youth population. 75% of Kenyans are under 25. 40% are under 14.  This youth bubble has made it difficult for governments to build enough classrooms and train enough teachers to meet their countries' education needs.

Kenya’s current president ran on a platform that included improving education through technology.  He has been in office for almost four years, and just now are devices beginning to arrive in schools. Teacher salaries have increased, as well as investments in creating a digital curriculum. A large percentage of schools in Kenya now have electricity.  Despite these efforts by the government, however, much of Kenya is still desperately lacking in resources.

The work of small nonprofits like us have been instrumental in bringing  rural villages out of isolation. Schools in Kenya are using technology not just to teach math, reading and science, but to benefit their communties through project-based learning.

Our on-site project manager, Bonaventure, has been vital to our education efforts in Kenya. He teaches students in the rural community of Bungoma about the jiggers infection, HIV, and women's reproductive health. He has inspired young boys and girls alike to become the future leaders of their community, and has assisted orphans in developing skills and finding sponsors for their continued education.
