In October 2017, I have an opportunity to join other mission leaders in the Central Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church on a Water to Life mission trip to the remote location of Mellier, Haiti.
For one week, we will have three main areas of focus:
1. Distributing Water to Life water filters, and including education on the importance of clean water supplies,
2. Spreading the love of Christ through Vacation Bible School type activities with children, and
3. Learning how we as mission leaders can responsibly partner with local Haitian churches in order to lead future mission trips to the country.
The funds raised through this GoFundMe project will cover the following costs: mission supplies, a net to sleep under, transportation, interpretors, travel documents and fees, Vacation Bible School supplies, meals, insurance, necessary vaccinations, and most importantly, Water to Life Water Filters to provide clean and safe water for the people of Haiti. As a team, we are hoping to provide 100 water filters (at a cost of $30 each).
In January 2010, a 35 second earthquake devastated the already impoverished country of Haiti. The need for assistance in meeting basic human needs continues today, and the task of responsibly leading mission trips into this country continues to be a deep need. My vision is to use this October mission trip to learn from experienced Haitian trip leaders, as well as lay the groundwork for future mission trip partnerships with local Haitian leaders.
The deadline for me to submit my trip funds is September 15. Any money raised above and beyond my fundraising goal will go directly to providing more water filters and supplies needed by the people in Haiti.
I invite you to support this mission in any way that you can - through your prayers, through spreading the word of this campaign to others, and through your donations. If you are unsure of how much to donate, consider sponsoring a water filter with a $30 donation. All support is greatly appreciated!
Once the trip is complete, I would love to share my story with everyone who is able to support the campaign.
Thank you so much,
