Parwan Disaster Flooding Relief

At least 100 people killed and hundreds of homes destroyed as seasonal rains cause worst flooding in Parwan province.Most of them were women and innocent children.

As one of the hardest hit communities, residents and the districts town centre has had unprecedented damage. There has been extensive damage to crucial infrastructure leaving many smaller villages in the mountains with unstable power and telecommunication service.  Village roads leading to other smaller villages have also been damaged leaving residents with no access to the main city, severely limiting their ability to get supplies or receive essential medical care.

Local footage shows vehicles and debris being carried by floodwater along the main road. The flooding has caused vehicles to drift and has subsequently caused severe damage to buildings and businesses. There will be long-term impacts from this disaster as many of the residents of this small town and nearby villages rely heavily on local businesses for work, income or supplies.
