On Sunday, August 26th, my sister, Marjani and her family came home to this. We don't know what caused the fire yet, but they've lost everything except for the clothes on their backs and the shoes on their feet.
The devastation of seeing all your physical memories destroyed, has been traumatizing on a level I know a lot of us can't imagine. From your photos, to the toys your children played with and the beds that they slept on every night; everything, disintegrated by flames. But even on the worst day of Marjani’s life, her first thought was to protect the babies and make sure they didn’t see their home like this. She is the strongest woman I know but as we ALL know, even our strong ones need to be lifted sometimes.
This fund has been set up to help get Marjani’s family back on their feet with all the basic necessities, such as food, lodging, clothes and school supplies.
