The Tre Whitley Mural Project

Parkview High School is among a large group of high performing schools in Little Rock. However, our student body is set apart from the others (private and public, alike) for two main reasons. 1) While consistently exceeding standards in rigorous academic courses and work, our students also demonstrate great versatility. Our best students are also amazing artists, talented dancers, passionate scientists, and much more. To be a Parkview Student does not just mean to meet a grade requirement. It means to be a student who is understanding and accepting of different talents. It means to be a student who is able to recognize that depth in a human being is equally important as academic knowledge.


This brings me to the second reason. 2) While our students show great versatility in countless ways, there is always a unifying force that brings each individual together. There is one common denominator that unites students from different backgrounds, different academic interests, different sports and organizations, different belief systems. We are the Parkview family. Our differences are not ignored. Not only do we recognize them, but we let them strengthen our bond. We learn to understand, and accept. This environment of convergence among differences is one to be cherished in today’s world.



The students have embarked on a project to highlight these qualities. We will be creating a professional grade mural through our own talented students that will benefit our students, future enrollment, and the community as a whole.The Mural Project is to display the unique qualities that make up the school which we love so dearly. The mural will symbolically represent how our students appreciate and encourage variety, yet never fail reconvene in the name of Patriot spirit. The project will also be an opportunity to showcase one of the many great talents our school encourages and builds.


Tre Whitley is a former Parkview student who graduated in 2016 as a drama magnet. He is a prime example of the the Parkview spirit. Excelling academically, and receiving national recognition for his acting career, Tre was a friend to all. In October of 2017, Tre got into a terrible car accident. He was in the ICU for nearly a week, and went in and out of a medically induced coma. Tre was eventually stabilized, and is now in the recovery process. While it will take great milestones for him to recover fully, if anyone is capable, it is Tre. The Parkview students have agreed to name this project in honor of Tre. Not only do we wish to recognize all of the joy and happiness Tre brought our school, but we want this mural to be a reminder to students to let this message live on.


We ask that our community contribute any funds possible that will help further our efforts. We are very appreciative of any donations and would like to involve all sponsors in the process with a formal invitation to the grand reveal.
