Parkes Telescope to London Eye

I have been offered the opportunity of a lifetime.

I live in rural New South Wales, 25km away from the Parkes Radio Telescope, and attended a program at the beginning of this year called the National Youth Science Forum.

This opportunity was wonderful but led to something even bigger - acceptance in the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF). I was completely gobsmacked to receive this news - how could a young girl like me, who's never even been on a plane before, get a chance to go on such a prestigious program?

I have had a passion for science and mathematics for all of my life but only recently has it truly fostered. The LIYSF runs for two weeks where we get to attend a number of keynote lectures, visit universities, talk with like-minded people, sightsee and participate in experiments in many laboratories. I have also made the decision to attend an optional CERN program - an extra week over there - in which I get to travel through Paris (Cite des Sciences, Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower etc.) before finally heading to Geneva and going hundreds of metres underground to see CERN Large Hadron Collider (a physicsts' 27km particle accelerator dream).

The LIYSF costs over $8000 and the CERN program is an extra $1300 - these costs go towards airfares, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, other travel costs and general attendance at the many sights we get to visit.

I am extremely excited about going on this program but, in terms of fundraising, there is still a very long way to go. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will be appreciated greatly and spent wisely.

I thank you so much for your support.
