Friends of the Parker's have made many inquiries as to how they may help and support this wonderful family. This page is being set up to funnel that concern and support directly to Ken, Teri, Morgan & Mason.
History:
This journey started eight years ago when The Parker's daughter Morgan was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder affecting her brain, “Cavernous Malformations.” This condition causes bleeds within the brain that has life changing implications. Eight years ago Morgan had her first successful surgery, and has been under the wonderful care of a team of world class doctors at Stanford Medical Center. After this 1st surgery, Morgan recovered and thrived. Now a young adult she has recently graduated wither her undergraduate degree from Sonoma State University. Morgan has been receiving yearly follow-ups, and her remaining malformations seemed to behaving themselves.
Recently, the Parker Family had a new, and very unexpected medical need arise. Teri was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This was life changing to say the least, but Teri took this challenge and courageously began Chemotherapy treatment in mid July. Upon completion of Chemo, Teri will then begin her Radiation treatment for another month. She is armed with a supportive group of friends, prayers, and an the will to snuff out this terrible disease and diagnosis.
Fast forward to August 3rd, 2018. Morgan collapsed and had a seizure, and was subsequently med-flighted to Stanford where they have identified a new bleed from a lesion deep within her brain. This bleed is located in the Thalamus, a very serious and not easily accessible area of her brain. She is being very closely monitored by her team of doctors as they watch her for the next three weeks to see how, and what direction this new bleed may go. For now she is stable but the effects of this new bleed are very serious, and life changing.. These recent developments have created a new journey, and need for the next level level of treatment for Morgan.
While Teri is actively undergoing Chemo and Radiation, The Parker family is now faced with the new issues that Morgan’s body seems to be presenting. There will be countless appointments and trips to the Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto. Not to mention, the looming expectation of potential surgeries, hospitalizations. Clearly, there are now many new needs being added to this family’s already challenging medical journey.
To all of the many friends, family, or acquaintances who are wondering, " how can I help this family?” Please use this page as a way to extend that thoughtfulness directly to The Parker's in whatever way you feel appropriate. There have been meal trains, and food being brought by friends and family to help Teri while she is in treatment. However, the most recent developments have created an entirely new need. Your continued prayers are of course needed and greatly appreciated.
