My spouse and I have been going through immigration proceedings for many years now. We have and continue to do all we can to stay here legally. Immigration is VERY unpredictable when it comes to time frames. Our future hangs in the balance, and our family could use some support.
We are a Choctaw/Korean-American family with 3 languages already under our belts. We both have chronic disease and disabilities that will only grow worse as we age, so we work the kinds of jobs that our situation and legal standing allows. We came here for a better life, to be educated, to not need to live in unsafe areas that do not allow us mobilty, proper health care, and a chance to keep our heads above water. Even with our conditions and two children, this is possible here in Montreal, and we make do with very little, but we make do. That simply is not possible at home.
We managed to scrape up enough to speak to an Immigration attorney , and he explained the Canadian points system needed to obtain a CSQ. To qualify for a CSQ you need so many points.
My husband as of right now lacks the points for a CSQ. However, if we apply right now (which the lawyer said absolutely do it now because the laws are about to change and make it almost impossible to immigrate) he has SIX MONTHS to master intermediate French. If he can master intermediate French in listening writing and speaking , we qualify for the CSQ and then will be granted the opportunity to apply for PR which with the French we’d qualify for. Our two Canadian citizen children will not have to be uprooted from the only life they know, and will be safe.
Our entire world was flipped upside down as we prepare to fight for a chance to stay in this county to simply be allowed to live, and give our children the lives we didn’t have. We aren't financially prepared for the expenses we are about to incur and as a result are looking for any help we can get from our friends and family. We both work and parent, and just want to ensure we can cover the lawyer and intensive French classes, to allow us to continue to be here legally and get better jobs. We both take on side work for extra money to pay for the expenses of day to day life when possible, but this is just beyond our abilities on our own.
Normally I would never reach out for financial help, but our timeline is unrealistically short and I don't want to make things even more difficult financially for my family than they already are. All money collected will go to pay for immigration expenses, and the French lessons. I am also happy to do some graphic design work or a skin care consult online if I can help you in return. We are grateful for any help you can give.
