<div>My name is Paris Jamal. For those who don't know, I am an End Stage Renal Disease patient. I've been doing dialysis for the last 9 years. This journey has been rough but I always try to persevere.

<div>If you have gotten to know me or get to know me, I pushed myself to be independent and driven while dealing with this disease. To stay positive and not let this disease hold me back. Unfortunately, life comes with hard times.

<div>For the past 3 years, I have been trying to make it on the Kidney Donor list or be healthy enough to receive a living donor. Going into 2025, I find myself extremely close to this reality with only a parathyroid surgery needed to be done. Although I am close, this process came with a delay.

</div>
<div>December 2024, a week before Christmas, i was fired from my job of 7 years for trying to stop a thief. It was something I usually didn't do. For a first time offense, the consequences was major. I didn't just lose my income but my health insurance as well. My first instinct was to just find another job. However, my doctors, family, and friends advised I need to focus on my health. To take a step back a realize that I have a lot going on. Beyond the parathyroid surgery, my body has taken its toll from 9 years of dialysis which is developing into ailments that are not getting better under treatment.

<div>Assitance from unemployment, disability, Medicare/Medicaid, &amp; Food Stamps has been slow processing and strenuous. I have had to pause doctors appointments and buying medication just to feed myself and save what I can. I am late on my rent and don't know if I will have the upcoming month or so. I find myself in a corner. And I must ignore my instinct to work in order to save my life.

<div>It's hard for me to ask for help. Not just money but stuff with my medical. I don't even know how to ask for a Living Donor. I've lived with this tremendous fear of being a burden. But the 1 thing I know above that is I want to survive. I want to live as comfortably as I can going through my kidney journey
