Parental Rights (Texas)

Our hearts are hurting for our friend, Chris Clay,  who is in the midst of the biggest battle of his life - the battle for his right as a (totally fit and fantastic) parent to retain full custody of his precious little girl (we'll call her "C").  

The background/details of the situation are below, and you can read more in the linked article.  The reason for the GoFundMe, though, is BEYOND BIG!  Chris has had to leverage his home and everything he owns to pay attorneys' fees, and the battle isn't even close to done.  Chris and his wife Paula are basically existing on a teacher's salary while trying to provide a "normal" day to day life for "C", and the well is going dry way too fast.   Any donation amount will be appreciated, cried over and felt in the heart by this sweet family.   

Background: 
Tragically, Chris' daughter's biological mom (ex-partner) was lost in a car  accident in 2018.  While trying to help his little girl deal with the loss of her mom, he then had to deal with the maternal grandparents suing for custody...custody of a child who has a loving, caring, perfectly fit father.  Thank goodness the court dismissed the case, recognizing there was no merit to it.  However, despite recognizing Chris as a perfectly fit parent, the court granted partial custody to the ex-partner's boyfriend.  During the time Chris' ex lived with the boyfriend (11 months), they were sharing custody 50/50.  So, "C" spent about 5-6 months with the boyfriend.  This does NOT give anyone the right to request to share or take away custody of a child with a loving, caring, perfectly fit father!

As shocking as it is that Chris is even in this position, the case has nonetheless made it's way to the Texas Supreme Court.  We pray that the decision they make will be constitutionally AND ethically the right one - let Chris, as a completely fit and loving father, retain sole custody of his little girl.
