Parent's House Flooded by Harvey

Donation protected
On August 28th as hurricane Harvey continued to dump water over Houston, my parents were informed by the Sheriff that they were going to have to open the dam to ease the building pressure and to prevent any damage.

Over the next 8 hours they got to watch their home slowly begin to flood, starting with the garage, while they rushed to move anything they could to higher ground.

Every 2 hours the water height doubled.

Around 5:30pm water had begun to enter the front door and they had to evacuate to the neighbors house across the street on higher ground.

The next morning things hadn't gotten better.

2 days later the water had receded and they were able to get in to assess the damage. They found 17-18 inches of water had ruined their bed, floors, furniture, and appliances.

They have been blessed by friends family and co-workers who came to help them rip out the flooring, walls, insulation, and box anything that survived.

With their home unusable and little money they have to wait for FEMA to come and assess the damage before they can begin to rebuild.

When they bought their home, 18 years ago, they were told they don't live on a flood plain and not to worry about flooding.  Now they can't use their home until they are able to get a loan.

All donations are needed as soon as possible and will go directly to the cost of a bed, appliances, and materials to restore my parents home.
