Paramedics Home Destroyed by Barrie Tornado

My name is Cory and I’m a Superintendent with Peel Regional Paramedic Services. This week one of our staff lost their home.

On July 16th in Barrie, Ontario a tornado ripped through a neighbourhood taking peoples homes in its destruction. John Hunwicks, a Peel Regional Paramedic for over 20 years lost his home to this tragic event. John and his son have lost everything. Computers, clothing, family photos are all gone. All of it has been scattered and is unlikely to ever be retrieved. While personal family items won’t ever be replaced it’s time we can step up as a family and community.

John has been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic on the front lines. He is now in need of our help. NOW it’s time for us to show Johnny we have his back.

While insurance will likely rebuild or repair the home, these funds will be used for the short term expenses while he is displaced.
