My name is Rose Goodwin. I was born and raised in Paradise, California.
On November 8, 2018 an extremely destructive wildfire known now as the "Camp Fire" started in Pulga, California. Within hours, the fire spread through Butte County, destroying my hometown of Paradise and leaving tens of thousands of people without homes.
My family was lucky enough to get out in time, but they have lost nearly everything they own. They are currently couch-hopping in the nearby city of Chico, but will need to find a more permanent stay in the near future.
Update (11/16): We received confirmation a few days ago that our house was definitely destroyed. This is a before/after picture of our once-lovely home.
I live in Japan and don't have the resources to help my family much financially. I was planning to come home to spend Christmas with my family next month, but now I don't know where my family will be spending Christmas.
Nothing can replace what we have lost. The place me and my brother were raised. The schools we went to. The hospital I was born in. All gone. But we must look forward and think about the future. So, I am reaching out for help. Any amount you can donate is appreciated.
