Para Driving World Championship

The Para Driving World Championship 2018 will be held in Holland and I will be going as an individual, representing the United States. I am on the board for the United States Driving for the Disabled. I have been driving my horses in Combined Driving for about 12yrs. I am one of the few who had polio during the epidemics in the '50's. I am not in a wheelchair but have significant issues with post-polio syndrome. I know this will be a once in a lifetime( as mine is getting closer to the end!) opportunity to compete at an international championship and most importantly of all to represent my country in Europe. I have worked very hard toward this goal, after going to the World's in 2014 as an alternate for the team, I set my sights on actually competing at a World Para-Championship.

Now the really exciting news is that I will be taking Zoobie, a Fjord*, her owner, Teressa Kandianis, has generously allowed me to drive Zoobie, the wonder pony, just look at her credentials and you will agree with me .  The World Para-Driving Championship will take place Aug. 28 in Holland, but I need to start now to raise funds to attend. The cost, as you can imagine, is very high. Transporting a horse to Europe is a very expensive.  There is the cost of stabling for Zoobie, feed and our room/board.  I would be using the funds to help defray the expenses of attending the World Para-Driving Championship.  Any funding support I receive will be a fantastic boost for me and our team. We will keep everyone updated as we move closer to the date and provide a description of the competition with all of the excitement of being at a World Championship.  We are not the only group of competitors going from the U.S. to Holland, the World Single Horse Championship will be going on at the same time and the U.S. will be sending a team. This is the first time they have held both of these Championships at the same venue. There will be so many countries in attendance it will truly be a Global Experience for all of us. Please consider a donation to help this journey become a reality for Zoobie and me!

* Zoobie was ADS North American Preliminary Champion in 2015, Kentucky Horse Park, 2016, she won the USEF/FEI National Championship for Single Ponies, Single Pony Champion at Live Oak International CDE, this year. Had best time in two of the obstacles at Live Oak, this is a huge win for a 13.2h pony against all of those big Warmbloods! She has won almost all of the CDE's she competed in, including SEC, Shady Oaks, Inavale, Little Everglades,Sunshine State, Spring Fling and Southern Pines, USEF/FEI Reserve Champion for Single Pony 2017. More recently, she won best Advanced Dressage  in theCDE and CT (Combined Test) and Best Advanced Cones in CDE and CT. Need I say more, she is truly an icon for the Fjord breed.
