On Sunday May 2, 2021, my father, our Papa Marcos passed away.

Papa Marcos was an extraordinary man, loved by so many people who got to meet him. Papa Marcos touched everyone's heart and the love was very strong in our family.

My dad was a fighter and we thought he had nine lives. He was diagnosed with cancer over 5 years ago in Los Angeles, CA. We brought my dad to Northern Virginia so that he could receive the best treatment with the best doctors.

Papa Marcos fought hard because he wanted most to be with family, especially his grandchildren Mercedez, Hunter, and Brayden. In the last three months, Papa Marcos' condition got worse. Even though he wanted to go to his home to Los Angeles, my father allowed us to care for him here in Virginia.

As his son, I personally fed him, bathe him, cleaned him, and made sure he to honor his wishes to fight the fight. My wife and his grandchildren were all present to assist in anything Papa Marcos needed.

In his last day, Papa Marcos knew that it was the end, however, his loving granddaughter, Mercedez was at Virginia Tech, four hours away.  We notified her that Papa was not doing well.  We told Papa Marcos that Mercedez was on her way home to see him. Four hours later, Mercedez arrived and was able to talk and pray with her Papa for 30 minutes. Papa Marcos knew he was surrounded by love, then he peacefully passed away in the presence of myself, Celeste, Mercedez, Hunter, and Brayden.
