Pancreatic Cancer Strikes the Same FamilyTwice

Donation protected
I am asking for help for the kindest, loving couple I know: my sister-in-law, Andrea Goguen and my brother-in-law, Jim Goguen. This couple is always there for others, but to humble to ask for help, when they are in need.

In 2017 Jim Goguen was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He underwent chemo and on May, 3rd last year he had whipple surgery, where his pancreas, spleen, small intestine and 1/3 of his stomach was removed. He made it through this 13 hour operation. More chemo followed. Now one year later we are happy to say that Jim is in remission. However, without his pancreas he has to check his insulin levels after every meal throughout the day.
Jim's wife, Andrea, was right at his side every step of the way and still is. She took him to his doctor's appointments and treatments. She stayed with him at the hospital. She made sure the meals she prepared for Jim were following the specific diet recommended for him. She keeps track of all the medications prescribed to Jim and administers the correct amounts at the correct times. As if this was not already a full time job, Andrea also kept working in order to keep her insurance under which Jim is covered and which allowed them to afford the medical expenses.

Now the reason for this Go Fund Me page:

A couple of weeks ago Andrea went to the emergency room, because she was experiencing some pain and she had been feeling very tired lately. She was checked out very thoroughly. When my husband (Andrea's brother) called her that night to check on her, she told him that so far all tests had come back normal, they were just waiting for CAT scan results. The following morning Jim called us and gave us the news: There was a mass on her pancreas.
A biopsy was done and it was confirmed. Andrea also has pancreatic cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver. The doctors described it as treatable, but not curable. Andrea does not want to know what stage of cancer she is at or the prognosis.
Chemo treatment sessions will start on Monday, May 20th.

Besides any medical expenses not covered by Andrea's insurance, they will be facing other expenses, i. e. transportation costs to and from the hospital (approximately 30 miles one way) and parking fees at the hospital. In addition they will be faced this time with a loss of income, despite Andrea's determination to keep working.

Andrea is a fighter. She is one of the strongest women I know. Her attitude is so positive. Andrea assured us that she will beat this, because "anything Jim can do, I can do better!"

Please consider helping Andrea and Jim. The funds would ensure that Andrea could allow herself to get the rest she will be needing.

We would also ask that you join us in prayers for Andrea and Jim.
