PANCF Canoe Storage and Canoe Journey 2023

Join PANCF as we grow! We need your support to build a structure to house the canoes and supplies, and plan and participate in the Paddle to Muckleshoot in July/Aug 2023.

Ten years ago several of our Elders led by Larry Dauphinais and John Lavadure brought the idea of a canoe family back to NAYA. Elders raised more than $25,000 along with other community fundraising to have our mother canoe carved by John E. Smith, a Skokomish carver and artist. In 2018, we were able to have a youth canoe built by Brian Krehbiel from Grand Ronde. We have participated in 8 canoe journeys around the Pacific Northwest with our Relatives to rekindle kinship, revitalize canoe culture, and protect the water and beings. We have experienced many changes and lots of growth.

We appreciate your generous kinship support these last several years from community members, sponsors, and partners, and look forward to many more opportunities to be out on the land and water together.

The canoes are sleeping for the winter while we set up a new location with a safe warm structure for our canoes and supplies to live. And, our place-based canoe culture programming is growing in the meantime for all-year-around participation. This winter, spring, and early summer activities will lead us in preparation for the Paddle to Muckleshoot in 2023.
