Pam’s Fight Against Cancer

Several weeks ago my mom was diagnosed with an advanced stage of nasal cancer. Last December, my mom began to notice something strange in her nose. A strange bump. She went to the doctor, who couldn’t diagnose the strange bumps, and suggested surgery. Not wanting to rush into surgery, my mom opted to get a second opinion. She began researching at home what could be growing in her nose, and settled with a self diagnosed “Nasal Pollups.” She began to self treat with home remedies. The “pollups” would disappear, and then return, and always in different locations within her nose. But then, things took a turn for the worse. Her nose began to deform. These bumps grew, and grew. She felt awful, and embarrassed, and her nose actually began to hurt. In a period of two weeks, her nose transformed. She described it best when she said she grew a Mr. Magoo nose. (Google it) We knew that something wasn’t right and these nasal pollups had to be something way worse. She finally went to get that second opinion, and the news we received wasn’t pretty. Cancer. A fast, and very rare form of cancer. And The only option for her at this point is surgical removal of her nose, to ensure removal of all the cancer. This is a very difficult time for my mom, both physically with having to accept the fact that her face will be changed forever, but also, emotionally. My mom is a self employed hair dresser, and while she is undergoing this procedure and recovery, she will not be generating any income. Not only will she have medical bills accumulating to keep her life, but also her regular bills will come due.
