Paloma's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Friends,

I'm reaching out to see if you can help the Gonzales family.  They are a humbly kind and faithful family who is plagued with non-insurance covered medical bills for procedures and equipment for their third child, Paloma.  It has taken months of convincing to even allow me to do this campaign, but your support would really help.   Please see the note from Alan below:

--------------------

In December of 2017 Lisa and I welcomed our third child, Paloma Lucia. Pal had a rough first few weeks. She battled respiratory issues in the NICU, and after being home for only seven days was re-admitted for RSV. In January, during the second stint in the NICU, Pal was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder named Pallister Killian Syndrome.

Paloma is one of about 450 reported cases worldwide of this rare genetic condition, PKS. There is a wide spectrum when it comes to PKS, and every person may experience different symptoms, but almost all reported cases include seizures, hypotonia, hearing and vision loss, pulmonary issues, renal and heart issues, and developmental delays. Currently, for Paloma, she has hearing loss on her left ear, some vision issues, a cleft palate, uneven limbs, and hypotonia.

Pal is perfect, no question about it. Her presence has showed us what love looks like through the generosity of our family, community, and friends old and new. Our goal on this platform is to firstly express our sincere appreciation for all of your kind words, time, food, visits, and prayers. Secondly, we have been asked about how to help monetarily. To be completely honest, it took overcoming some pride to become open to the idea of monetary donations. However, two things this outpouring of love has taught me is 1) “Let me know how I can help.” isn’t just a pleasantry, but it takes some humility to give a real answer back. 2) Our freezer is small and doesn’t hold that many one pot meals and casseroles.

Thank you to Samantha for convincing us to do this. She as well as the rest of our town has been a rock this year. We only ask for your prayers and support. We like answering questions about Pal and her syndrome. She is a happy and hungry baby whose current favs are baths and listening to her siblings read/play/fight. If you would like to contribute to Pal’s care, please do so here. Your donation will help fund the following:

- Special needs stander
- Cleft pallet surgery
- Physical therapy equipment
- Medical bills from this past year that include her laminectomy (tethered spinal cord surgery)

Love,
The Gonzales Family
