Palliative Care for Terry

A couple of weeks ago, Terry was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He had been in terrible health for years, suffering from diabetes, near blindness, and heart disease. Estranged from his family and living in a rural area of Costa Rica, his suffering was something that he had endured alone. 

Because his cancer had metastasized by the time it was detected, and the pain became more than he could manage with the medication available, he was moved from his home to a facility that his state-sponsored insurance won't cover. 

His mother has been paying for his care, but her funds are going to run out early next year. There is no one in his family that has the wherewithal to support his care and because of Covid, no one can travel to provide care for him in his final months. We expect that he will probably not survive long into the new year and we are hoping to find some help very soon to defer the cost of his care and to make his final days as pain-free as possible.
