Skyward Mississauga Pakistan Flood Relief 2022

Donation protected
Hello,

We are an experienced five-member team from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada raising funds that we can send to Pakistan to assist with the ongoing flooding that has resulted in thousands of casualties and damages to the affected regions (Kindly see backstory below)

This initiative is purely a not-for-profit initiative, and every single dollar donated through the GoFundMe platform will first be deposited into my personal bank account. The funds will then be withdrawn and sent to our relief team (Tariq Hussain Shujra: head in charge, anyone can contact me for more details). The relief team is based out of Karachi. It will use the funds to purchase both perishable and non-perishable items, as well as medicine, water, clothes, tents, blankets etc. and then will drop off these items to the disaster areas where the most assistance is needed. Funds will also be raised for reconstructing the infrastructure of people's homes and neighbourhoods.

There is no minimum donation required
Any donation helps.

Important To Note:

(GoFundMe is not allowed to hold online donations on the website. It has to be automatically deposited into my bank account first & then we can send the funds overseas. For any concerns, you can contact GoFundMe customer support directly.

We are also collecting offline donations from funds off of the GoFundMe platform that we will send directly to our relief team in Karachi. If you would prefer to meet in person to provide offline donations, you can contact a member of our team or me and our contact information is provided here.

Important To Note:

For whatever reason, if anyone is not comfortable sending in donations in the form of money, they can also provide tangible donations in the form of food, necessities, supplies etc.

You can contact Kashif and additional team members for drop-off locations:

Backstory

In 2022, Pakistan received higher rainfall than usual. The province of Sindh received 784% higher rain than usual, and Balochistan received 500% more rain than normal. Higher than average monsoon rains were also recorded in India and Bangladesh. The Indian Ocean is one of the fastest warming regions in the world, warming by an average of 1°C (as opposed to the global warming average of 0.7°C). The rise in sea surface temperatures is believed to increase monsoon rainfall. In addition, southern Pakistan experienced back-to-back heat waves in May and June, which were record-setting and made more likely by climate change. These created a robust thermal low that brought heavier rains than usual. The heatwaves also triggered glacial flooding in Gilgit Baltistan.

We had also taken involvement in the previous 2010 Pakistan Flood, which affected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan regions of Pakistan and was considered one of the worst natural disasters in Pakistans history with close to 2000 casualties. Our goal was to raise $30,000, and we were able to raise close to $65,000 to assist the affected regions.
