What is The Paint the World Project?
The Paint the World Project is a Chicago based non-profit organization created to serve the youth of various communities through Performance Arts. Its primary mission is mentorship through creative counseling and expression. Its goal is to foster healthy and nurturing relationships with pre-teens and young adults in need of guidance and support. Through the arts, The Paint the World Project provides a safe space for the youth to use creative expression in order to attain a greater sense of identity and social awareness. Through this principle we inspire and foster relationships of honesty, reflection, humility, and respect, while providing practical resources to assist our youth in reaching their greater life potential. We stand firm and committed to our motto, “Be the change, make a difference. Make a change, be the difference”.
Funding for the Paint the World Project – Quest for $100k
As a NPO, the primary source of income for PWP comes from fundraising. Currently PWP is on a mission to raise $100k to fund the organization’s programs. With this money PWP hopes to purchase a facility to act as the hub and headquarters for student activities. The name of this facility will be “The Wreck”, PWP’s first of many Chicago based youth centers. In addition to purchasing a facility, PWP also hopes to purchase state of the art equipment, instruments, and other performance tools needed to elevate our youth’s learning experience and creativity. Implementing a detailed fundraising strategy, PWP’s Quest for $100k is put into effect by a team of passionate fundraisers, volunteers, and committee members. Using grassroots techniques, the goal is to receive at least $1 from 100k people, both online and off in varying communities, organizations, and businesses.
The Wreck: PWP’s Community Center.
Here is what we aspire to offer through PWP’s community center, The Wreck:
1. A Performance Theater
2. A Study Hall
3. A Music Production Center
4. A Meeting and Mentorship Room
5. A Social Room
6. A Kitchen
These are just a few of the things we working to offer within The Wreck. But the most important aspect of the Wreck is not the way the space is used, but the life principles that are taught within its walls. Principles of kindness, respect, integrity, unity, hope, perseverance, and the practicality of wisdom are the true treasures the center provides, and are also the foundation on which it operates. Because of this there are strict rules against violence, drugs, and weapons. Instead of using destructive tools of self expression, we teach our students to use the arts as their primary tool of expression. Through song, dance, poetry, instrumentation, etc., we teach them to find constructive ways of releasing their feelings and emotions. We aspire daily to encourage honesty and truth, and inspire smiles and laughter. The Wreck is truly a center for the youth.
